"Sleek and supple, 40 tons of what appeared to be an enormous torpedo sped toward me on a clear collision course. With no time to climb back in the boat and no place to hide, I froze. Whatever happened next would be up to the whale. With a subtle twist of her fluke, she turned, lifting her wing-like flipper to avoid contact, and swept by, her eye moving slightly, acknowledging my presence."—Sylvia Earle, from the book The World is Blue.

1. Cruising the Chao Phraya River
Exploring the Chao Phraya river by boat is one of Bangkok's greatest pleasures. A commuter ferry—the inexpensive Chao Phraya River Express—makes stops along the river's east bank as far as Nonthaburi. To visit sites on the west bank, however, you'll have to take shuttles across the river at various points. A more leisurely option is to visit the east bank sites by commuter ferry one day, then return to visit the west bank sites by longtail boat the next. Get all of the information about the tour, plus a free map, here.

Three places occupy the heart of Janet Skeslien Charles’s effervescent debut novel, Moonlight in Odessa. Our principal guide is ambitious, attractive, articulate Daria, who has a degree in mechanical engineering but finds herself, at the beginning of the book, working as a secretary for a demanding Western executive at an international import company. This executive demands that Daria sleep with him, and her strategy to avoid this fate—introducing him to her wily neighbor, Olga—propels a succession of events that reveal some of the primary fantasies and realities of life in Odessa, the U.S., and the metaphorical land of Love.

LOVE NEPAL Brief History : Nepal is one of the youngest republic nations in the world .Shah dynasty ruled over the country until recently. Prithivi Narayan Shah unified the nation in 1768.During Shah dynasty’s rule in 1846 a sepoy leader Bahadur Rana rose to power starting a hereditary Prime Ministership leading to 104 years long Rana regime .The Ranas maintained good relations with the British and extended support to them against the Sepoy Rebellion and during both World Wars. In 1923.the Untied Kingdom and Nepal Formally signed as agreement of friendship, in which Nepal’s independence was recognized by the UK.
